THE B#1 LEJOG PROJECT - Land's End to John O'Groats by land, sea (& air!)
In June a group of B#1 athletes and supporters, led by Nick Dempsey, will tackle the route from Land's End to John O'Groats – LEJOG. Among the group will be Jason Gill, a disabled athlete, who will hand cycle the route, and Robin Simpson, who will cycle there and back. At the same time Kevin Carr will run it cross country, and Stephanie Bridge will kite-surf it. At each stopover Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson, along with the group, will address schools and colleges on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
The project aims to raise £100 per mile for The British Heart Foundation.
VIDEO FEATURE - Sarah Ayton and Nick Dempsey on food and fitness
Our intrepid team of Brendon Mitchell and Martin Landi have been out and about and have and caught up with Nick Dempsey, Olympic Bronze medallist Windsurfer (Athens 04), and his wife, Sarah Ayton OBE, double Olympic Gold medal winning Yngling sailor.
Here they chat about what an Olympic athlete eats and drinks and how they look after their health and wellbeing.
Each week the team pick their favourite Member's Sports page and this week it's Finn Ambrose. Finn is a supporter of Sean Rose and he has been particularly clever in choosing his pixel. He chose the tip of Sean's ski, thus ensuring that he will always cross the finish line in front. Well done Finn, we like your use of Photoshop on your profile pic too!. Keep posting. As a member of Be Number 1, as well as giving financial support to a British athlete, you can show the world what a great sportsperson you are via your own B#1 Sports Page.
Each member is given a page on the Be Number 1 web site where you can show your own sporting highlights in the shape of blogs, photo galleries and video clips.
We’d like this to be very much sports, health and fitness orientated, so perhaps a bit different from other places on the internet where you can post. The most interesting Sports Page each month will be featured on the Be Number 1 Home page – so pick an athlete, sign up and get posting.
